What Is Towel Loom

Towel looms appeared in Britain in the early 19th century, and automatic towel looms were only produced in China in the 1950s. The working width of towel loom is 105 ~ 230 cm and other different specifications.

Towel looms are generally divided into platform looms, floor looms and cut-off looms. The loom uses two weaving shafts to send out the ground warp yarn and the fuzzing warp yarn respectively. Through the specific regular movement of the reed, groups of weft yarns are pushed to the fabric mouth, so that the fuzzing warp yarn forms a coil on the surface of the fabric and is woven into a towel fabric. The let off and beating up mechanisms of towel looms are different from those of ordinary looms. The let off amount of the warp let off mechanism can be adjusted according to the required height of the terry, and the let off amount remains constant. In general, the tension of ground warp yarn is greater than that of wool warp yarn, and the discharge length of wool warp yarn is greater than that of ground warp yarn. The reed in the beating up mechanism is usually installed on the movable reed base to complete the regular movement of the roughing ring. When weaving three weft towels, the beating up stroke of the first and second weft reeds is smaller, and when weaving the third weft, the beating up stroke of the reed becomes larger. At the same time, the first, second and third weft yarns are pushed together to the fabric opening. The weft yarn clamps the fuzzing warp yarn and slides along the ground warp yarn with high tension, so that the fuzzing warp yarn sent out by the warp shaft forms a coil on the fabric surface (see towel tissue). When weaving towel fabric on the projectile loom, it is not necessary to change the stroke of the reed, but a device that moves the shed is used to make the shed move back and forth according to a specific law in the weft beating process to form towel fabric.
