Rapier loom is the mainstream machine in the loom. It has the advantages of high speed, stability and good variety adaptability. It is the preferred machine for weaving various grades of clothing fabrics and other gray fabrics.
There are many forms of rapier looms, which can be divided into single rapier looms, double rapier looms and double rapier looms according to the configuration of rapiers.
1: When a single rapier loom is used for weft insertion with a single rapier, only a long rapier with a wider width than the cloth and its rapier transmission mechanism are installed on one side of the loom, so that the weft can be sent to the other side of the shed, or the empty rapier can be extended into the shed to reach the other side to hold the weft, and then the weft can be pulled into the shed during the withdrawal of the rapier to complete the weft insertion. When a single rapier loom is introduced, the weft does not undergo the handover process in the center of the shed, so weft handover errors and weft tension peaks caused by the handover process will not occur. The rapier head structure is simple, but the rapier size is large, and the motion is also large. Because of its low speed and large floor area, most of them have been replaced by double rapiers.
2: Double rapier loom when double rapier weft insertion, rapier and corresponding rapier transmission mechanism are installed on both sides of the loom. These two rapiers are called weft sending sword and weft receiving sword respectively. During weft insertion, the weft feeding sword and the weft receiving sword move from both sides of the machine to the center of the shed. The weft is first held by the weft feeding sword and sent to the center of the shed. The two swords meet in the center of the shed, and then the weft feeding sword and the weft receiving sword retreat respectively. In the process of starting to retreat, the weft is transferred from the weft feeding sword to the weft receiving sword, and the weft is pulled through the shed by the weft receiving sword.
When double rapier weft insertion, the rapier is light and compact, which is convenient to achieve the width and high speed operation of the loom. When weaving with double rapiers, the weft in the center of the shed is connected reliably, and generally there will be no mistakes. Therefore, double rapier weft insertion is widely used in rapier looms.
3: Double layer rapier loom when the double-layer rapier loom is weaving, the warp forms an upper and lower shed. In each shed, a group of rapiers complete the weft insertion, and the upper and lower groups of rapiers are driven by the same transmission source.
