Development History Of Pile Looms

A loom that makes the surface of the fabric form loops or weft floats, and then uses a pile cutting device to pile. There are two kinds of fleece fabrics: warp fleece and weft fleece. After being fleeced, the fleece is woven into a terry by the fleece warp, and the fleece standing on the surface of the fabric is formed after cutting; Weft raising refers to the formation of fluff after cutting off the floating length of part of the weft (see raising tissue).

China has been producing pile fabrics for more than 2000 years. The velvet ring brocade in the textiles unearthed from the Han tomb in Mawangdui is a kind of warp knitted fabric. This kind of fabric is woven by the double spindle coarse weft raising method. Later, the raising bar appeared to replace the raising coarse weft, which is the earliest rod warp raising loom. Bamboo, wood or steel wire are often used for pile rods. When weaving, put the pile rod into the corresponding shed of the pile, so that the warp is surrounded by the pile rod to form a pile circle, and then cut it with a pile cutter to form pile. This method is still used in the production of Zhangrong and carved velvet in China. In 1857, Spain invented a cashmere cutting loom without a cashmere rod to weave two layers of cashmere fabrics. Later, a double shed cashmere loom appeared. In the 1970s, a double rapier weft insertion was used, which is suitable for weaving all kinds of cashmere fabrics. When woven by the pile up loom, the ground warp and the pile warp are respectively wound on two weaving shafts, in which the ground warp is divided into two groups, each interwoven with the weft to form two layers of ground cloth, and the pile warp is interwoven with the weft of two layers of ground cloth. When the fabric is formed, the lint cutting mechanism cuts the lint in the middle of the two layers of ground cloth to become two independent warp fleece fabrics. According to the difference of opening and weft insertion, the warp knitting machine can be divided into single shed and double shed. The single shed is a shed formed by each rotation of the loom spindle, and weft insertion is carried out with a shuttle; The double shed is that the loom spindle rotates to form two shed, and two shuttles are used to introduce two weft yarns. Weft pile looms are generally made of ordinary looms equipped with tread plates or conjugate cam opening mechanisms designed according to the pile organization. It is mainly used to weave corduroy, weft velour and other fabrics.
